INVESTMENT ANALYST – Private Debt and Equity

An investment analyst is responsible for assisting in the evaluation and monitoring of our $36 billion private equity and debt portfolio.  The analyst will also assist in the evaluation of new private equity and debt investments.  As part of the evaluation and monitoring process, the analyst will be expected to interact with the senior investment professionals on a daily basis.  The analyst will work with one of four portfolios internally and will also assist in ongoing portfolio management.

A BS or BA with significant coursework in finance, economics or accounting is required.  A broad knowledge of investments, an understanding of economic forces affecting a wide range of industries, proficiency in accounting and strong computer modeling skills are required.  The ability to communicate effectively is also required.  This position is a two to three-year assignment and is designed for an individual who will eventually pursue an MBA.

 

ASSOCIATE – Private Debt and Equity

An Associate is responsible for the analysis, evaluation, and execution of private debt and equity investment opportunities offered to Northwestern Mutual Capital by investment bankers, issuers, and private equity sponsors.  Specific responsibilities include financial modeling and valuation analysis, completing investment recommendation memos, conducting industry and business due diligence and meeting with senior level executives, investment bankers, and private equity sponsors to obtain a thorough understanding of the investment merits of the transaction.  Associates are also responsible for monitoring investments in the Northwestern Mutual Capital portfolio as well as completing workouts of underperforming investments.  The Associate, operating in a team environment, will be given increasing responsibility over time and training will be largely on-the-job.

Requirements include an MBA with a concentration in finance (0-2 years of post-MBA experience).  A broad knowledge of investments, an understanding of economic forces affecting a wide range of industries, proficiency in accounting, and strong computer modeling skills are also required.  The ability to communicate effectively with corporate executives, attorneys and senior members of Northwestern Mutual Capital is also required.
